Halloween!

I adore Halloween, so I am super-excited for this weekend. My husband loves Halloween too, and he is still adding decorations to our front yard display. It’s like a game when I get home from work to see if I notice everything new that he has added, and it’s so cute to watch him wait for me to come in the door so he can see if I noticed (of course I did!)

It’s supposed to dip into the high 40s at night over the weekend, which also makes me very happy. Maybe I am part penguin, I suppose, because I need the cold to live! Everyone else can keep the nasty summer and heat and humidity, where just walking outside feels like stepping into a sauna and an automatic sunburn. I am in my element in chilly, sweater-wearing, fireplace-burning, snuggle-together-at-night weather.

I have a lot to get done at work today, but I keep finding myself drifting away and thinking about our plans for the weekend. My older stepdaughter will be home with us for the weekend, and I am happy she is sharing Halloween weekend with us.

Now…just need to get this pesky work day out of the way so we can get started on this weekend already!

Home

I’m in slow motion today and still in weekend gear. I hit snooze so many times this morning that my husband finally just laughed, reached over, and pulled me close to him. We both already knew I was going to be late to work anyway, so why not?

An injury last week had me worried that our weekend would be a bust, but we still had fun. I am actually feeling a lot better already, and I was able to hobble around the yard and water the plants yesterday.

I asked my husband to make grilled BBQ chicken last night, because it is so damn good! He gets that delectable, crispy skin that makes me drool. I wanted to eat another piece (and then another, if we are being completely honest here), but I also wanted to make sure I had enough to pack for my lunch today.

Luckily, it is almost time for me to head home, which is where I have wanted to be all day. Over the weekend, my husband had asked what I wanted to do that evening, and after thinking about it, I had to admit, “Really, I would be happy just staying home.” He laughed and said that is what he wanted to do, too.

We’re such wild and crazy party animals, right? I can’t help it. I am just happiest right inside my own front door, with my best friend.
