Today is the 155th day of the year. That means we still have 210 days, or 58%, of this year left. I may have pissed away several months of it, but I intend to make the most of what remains.
My goals for June:
- Lose 10 pounds.
- Get consistent with workouts again: at least 30 minutes a day.
- Write on my blog more. It helps me stay accountable and feel connected to others on this same weight loss path.
That is plenty to keep me busy, so I will stop there.
I had promised myself I would work out last night, no matter what, but when the time came to actually do it, I really didn’t feel like it. I found other things to do. I stalled. Then, finally, I changed clothes, bit the bullet, and went for a walk with my good friend, Leslie Sansone:

I can’t say enough good things about Leslie Sansone’s Walk at Home workout DVDs. She is encouraging and positive, and the workouts are gentle but still work up a light sweat. They give me that “I can do this” feeling and are not overwhelming as I ease back into this whole exercise thing.
Working out after taking a long break is not a particularly pleasant experience. I could feel every single extra ounce hanging like saddlebags from my body, weighing me down. My workout clothes don’t fit like they used to. Blech. Every movement was a painful reminder of how out of shape I have let myself get again.
The only way to change any of that is to keep at it, though, and one day at a time, it will easier. It will get better. I will get stronger and more in shape. I just need to keep going.
