Butts and Guts

CF B and GAs promised, I am here to let you know what I thought of the workout video I tried last night.  I decided to go for Cathe Friedrich’s “Butts and Guts” workout, and yes, mostly because I giggled a bit at the title.

I wasn’t giggling long, though.  More like grimacing.  This is a tough workout!  It’s almost 80 minutes long if you do the whole thing, which I did.  Besides the warm up and cool down, you work your legs and butt for about 50 minutes and your core for about 15.

And when I say “work”, I mean “work“!  Right off the bat, we started with walking lunges, and those were topped off with hopping plie squats.  Wow.  After the standing work, with squats, single-leg squats, lunges, etc., we moved to the floor for more buns exercises, like the classic fire hydrant, then finished off with a killer abs workout and, finally, stretching.

I was sore before the workout was even over.  I just kept thinking, “I won’t be able to walk tomorrow.”  I definitely feel it today!  And I will definitely be doing this workout again.  Very effective, challenging, and all around a good workout, just like most of Cathe Friedrich’s workouts.

Well, tomorrow morning is the moment of truth.  I am actually nervous about weigh-in because I don’t know what to expect.  I’ve been more vigilant and much stricter about my eating this week, so I hope that balances out not being able to go for any long distance runs.

Oh, I tried the idea of rolling the frozen water bottle under my foot for about 20 minutes last night, and even though I have tried an ice pack and massage separately, it seemed much more effective doing both at one shot with the frozen water bottle.   So thank you for all of the ideas and tips for treating plantar fasciitis!  My foot didn’t hurt today nearly as much as it usually does in the morning.
