Challenging Week

I knew this week was going to be challenging, but so far, so good!  I packed my gym bag yesterday and brought it with me to work.  I hit the gym for a 35 minute workout, cleaned up and changed clothes, and went to the dreaded board dinner.

Did I mention there’s a ton of food at every work event?  This one was no different.  Even though we were there for dinner, the room was decked out with an appetizers table with shrimp, cheese, bread, and some fancy stuff I had no idea what it was.  I had some shrimp cocktail because I love it.  I had lobster bisque (don’t even want to know how many calories are in that), filet mignon but only ate half of it, green beans, and creme brulee for dessert, but I only took a few bites and forced myself to stop. Oh, and I ordered unsweet tea to drink instead of Coke.  So, not exactly a perfect dieter’s meal, but way better than what I normally would have eaten (namely, all of it, guzzled down with refill after refill of Coke).

I was very proud of myself for planning ahead and making sure I fit in a workout.  Today is also going to be a challenge.  We unfortunately need to drop the kids off this evening at Psycho’s, and I already know they won’t want to go.  I will barely get to see them after I get home from work before it’s time to round up their stuff and load up into the truck.  It’s an hour drive each way, so my fiance and I won’t get home until at least 8:30 PM.  I have promised myself, no matter what, I am going to work out when we get home so I don’t break my streak.

I am 57% of the way through my Viking Challenge!  Twenty-eight miles to go, out of the 65.3 total miles.  I’m determined to finish this challenge before my birthday next month.
